On 20 October 2026 Core dna asked ChatGPT where 20 popular Black Friday products were cheapest in Australia, twice each. Across the 40 answers, Officeworks was the recommended store six times, Myer five times, and Amazon Australia and Bing Lee four times each.
Being recommended didn't mean being priced right. Officeworks was priced correctly in five of its six recommendations, Myer in two of five. ChatGPT twice quoted a Weber barbecue at a price Myer wasn't charging, and once sent shoppers to Myer for a Kindle Paperwhite it doesn't sell. Across all 40 answers, 21 were wrong.
